Real Name: Phil Rosenstein
Gender: Male
Birthday: Jun 25, 1970
Age: 39
City: Silver Spring
State: MD
Website: www.runphilrun.com
About Me: Years running:  I ran Cross Country in high school and then nothing for 15 years.  Started again in 2004 while training for my first Ironman
triathlon.
Years Running Ultras: Two and a half. Completed Races since 2004:  4 Ironman triathlons, 5 marathons, 2 50 Kilometers, 3 50 Milers, 19 100 Milers, and 3 races of 150 miles or longer.
Hardest Races: McNaughton 150 Mile Trail Run and Coast to Kosciuszko 264km

Favorite Time of Day to Run:  Any time, any day.  Not really an answer, is it?
Favorite Place to Run: Any where there is no traffic.  I prefer trails in woods of the beaten path, but really anywhere quiet.
Favorite Crew or Pacer: Anyone kind enough to help me is deeply appreciated.
Chronic Injuries:  None to speak of, though I'm just getting past a couple of stress fractures.  I've been fortunate.
Favorite Drink/Foods: Water, Perpetuem, Ensure/Boost. Mashed Potatoes, Oatmeal, Bananas.
Favorite Shoes: Brooks Adrenaline.

Very few ultrarunners have done as many races in such a short period as I have. Despite such a heavy race schedule, I've finished every ultramarathon I've entered.  And I have managed to have a few really good races in there as well:
* Heartland 100 = 22 hours, 46 minutes; 11th place out of 65 runners
* Across the Years 48 Hours = 151 miles; 5th place out of 32 runners
* McNaughton 150 = 46 hours 50 minutes; 7th place out of 47 runners (only 10 finished)

I'm also very active in the ultrarunning community.  I have paced 3 runners to their first finish of a 100 mile races and 1 other runner at Badwater (135 mile running race through Death Valley in July - it's known as "The World's Toughest Footrace").  I've also coached 6 people through to finish their first 100 mile attempt this year and have two more people who are shooting for Spring 2008.  I enjoy these activities almost as much as running!

Motivation: Not really clear. Maybe curiosity. Maybe masochism.
Goals: Short Term Goal: Badwater Ultramarathon July 14, 2008 (www.badwater.com).
Long Term Goal: Finish the cross country run on time and healthy.  That's as long term as you'll get out of me.

Sponsors: Brooks (www.brooksrunning.com) and Hammer Nutrition (www.hammernutrition.com)
Occupation: Ultrarunner
Favorite Events: Favorite Holiday: July 4th - picnic, sun, fireworks, warm weather, family, friends.  What's not to like?
Favorite Music / Movie: Favorite TV shows:  I don't really watch a lot of television, but I never miss a Pittsburgh Penguins hockey game; Mystery Science Theater 3000; Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Favorite Book / Magazines: Favorite Authors: Isaac Asimov, Douglas Adams, Hans-Hermann Hoppe, Mike Nelson

Favorite Books: "The Book of Virtues"

Favorite Sports / Teams: Pittsburgh Penguins
Favorite Quotes: "You're better than you think you are and you can do more than you think you can!" - Ken Chlouber at Leadville
