2010 Tour de France Stage 17:  Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank) and Alberto Contador (Astana) cross the finish line together, neither one having succeeded in dropping the other on the Tourmalet.  Schleck got the stage win but Contador did what he needed to do, keep the yellow jersey ahead of Saturday's individual time trial.

2010 Tour de France Stage 11:  Mark Cavendish (HTC-Columbia) gets another stage win but it came at a high cost; his final leadout man Mark Renshaw was kicked out of the race for "dangerous behavior" in the final kilometer, with race official Jean-François Pescheux pointing to Renshaw's repeated headbutting of Garmin's Julian Dean as unacceptable behavior.  Dean is the final leadout man for American Tyler Farrar who was impeded when Renshaw swerved into his path.

Flashback: Chavanel on the Col de la Ramaz, 2003

2003 Dauphine Libere: "Baker boy" Sylvain Chavanel (Brioches la Boulangere) climbs the Col de la Ramaz.  It was 7 years ago and the climb was also featured in the Tour that year.  It is back today and could be where the fireworks commence, though perhaps not among the top favorites for the overall.  French riders and teams are out to prove something this year, with some dropped from the ProTour and looking for new sponsors.  (Bouygues is in talks with La Poste (the French post office) who may take over next year as title sponsor)  A more experienced Chavanel starts the day in yellow.  -Pete
