To allow us to make the new course changes and have the trails ready we have moved the date of the Maxxis Boonah Marathon from the first advertised date of 6th June to now the 26th September.  At least you won't have to get up early on a cold winters day.  We at Two Wheel Promotions have been working hard with all parties involved to bring you a great Maxxis Boonah Marathon for 2010. This year we will see a change with the Marathon starting at the Boonah Showgrounds like in previous years but finishing at a new location "Lillybrook" at the Wyaralong Dam Recreational Trails a fantastic new multi-use recreational trail network with some awesome trails to finish off your Marathon.  The trail network will still be in the construction phase but Two Wheel Promotions has secured access to selected trails that are completed in this area for the Maxxis Boonah Marathon. They will not be open to the public yet but here is your chance to come and try some of the trails before they open and see the what will become a mountain bike "mecca" in the future. Two Wheel Promotions is proud to be associated with construction of these trails in a Queensland Water Infrastructure project. The trail network is being constructed in the Wyaralong Dam project approx.9km from Boonah.   This will be a mountain bikers dream with a dedicated area for mountain bikers just an hours drive from Brisbane. This area will become a mountain bikers "heaven" with approx. 40km of trails being constructed.    The Marathon course will see you traverse the western trailhead "Lillybrook" and will become the hub of mountain biking in the area.   Work will start later this year on the construction of a Mountain Bike Park with cross country, downhill & 4x courses built to National event standard.   If you only do one Marathon this year make sure it's the Maxxis Boonah Marathon. After an incredible response last year the second coming of the Tour De Timor will be held on the 13-18th September 2010. The President of Timor, Jose Ramos Horta, this week (21/1/2010) announced the 2010 race dates for the Tour de Timor which last year had a total prize purse of $75,000. Plenty of Australian and international rides will be surely trying to take the win from defending champions Paul Van Der Ploeg and Tory Thomas.   Riders can expect five days of hard riding, and adventure style camping. Race Director David White has advised some changes to the course are planned to include more off road. It certainly sounds like a cracker! Entries are expected to open in April with more details to be provided on flights, food and the course.
