Singletrack obsessives rejoice! The team from Chocolate Foot are proud to announce the launch of the premier endurance race series for New South Wales: The 2010 SRAM Singletrack Mind Series – Protected by Brave Soldier. From April 2010 mountain bikers are set to test themselves and their team mates in a series of five events ranging in length from 6 hours to the series finale, a 10 hour challenge! Also at the conclusion of the series to celebrate all the hard work and relive the great times of almost 40 hours of mud, sweat and gears, the village of Appin is ready to party! Each venue in the series has been selected for its sweet flowing singletrack and ability to host everything that makes for a great event. The series kicks off on 18 April in western NSW's singletrack oasis, Lidsdale State Forest near Lithgow. Well worth the drive, the deceptively challenging track will serve up 8 hours of singletrack joy for those seeking the enduro fix! 2010 SRAM Singletrack Mind Series Schedule 18 April – Lidsdale State Forest, Lithgow 16 May – Coondoo Road, Nowra 13 June – Yellomundee Regional Park, Yarramundi 29 August – Stromlo Forest Park, Canberra 25 September – WMBC track, Appin While Chocolate Foot is a new business, its principals bring a vast knowledge of mountain biking and event management to ensure the polished and professional running of the series. Fiona Dick has extensive experience in the organisation of large scale events, is an MTB skills educator and has written for the major mountain bike magazines. Joe Ward is Australia's most prolific cycling TV show producer, having covered the past seven Australian Mountain Bike Championships and the recent World Mountain Bike Championships in Canberra. We're also really looking forward to presenting great prizes from all our generous sponsors: SRAM, Brave Soldier skincare, Lezyne, NZzo clothing, K-Lite Racing lights, RockShox, Avid, Truvativ and Hammer Nutrition. All brands that are innovative and what we regard to be the best! Prizes that really reward busting your butt for hours on end! The ChallengeEast Arnhem Land has awesome mountain biking with sandy tracks, creek crossings, rocky terrain and well-worn tracks that wind through uninterrupted beaches, Savannah woodland and Jurassic cycad forests. The inaugural 3-day challenge kicks off on Friday 27 August at Nhulunbuy. Courses start daily from the small town centre and venture into the surrounding lush bushland and beaches. Course distances vary each day, with shorter options for inexperienced and non-endurance riders. The Challenge is suitable for beginners and intermediate riders and is open to team entries. Race against yourself or race to win, it’s up to you. Most of all, the challenge is about riding in a truly spectacular and visually stunning location and experiencing and interacting with a culture more than 40,000 years old. Each day there will be post-race barbeques and the opportunity to relax with new and old friends. The event culminates at Yirrkala, an aboriginal community located 13km west of Nhulunbuy, with traditional dance, song and a barbeque of freshly-caught seafood. Lots of prizes and giveaways will be up for grabs during the 3-day event. More information at the event website here (http://www.eastarnhem.net.au/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=114&Itemid=163).
