This women's only 5K and 10K event starts at 8:30 am on the property of Heron's Nest Her Farm, following River Bend Rd and CR 407 for a scenic out and back. There will be 3 fully stocked water stops manned by handsome male servants wearing Hawaiian shirts. 5 water stops for the 10K and 3 for the 5K. Runners receive, tech shirt guaranteed by signing up before 5-26-10, great course with male servants at water stops, post race champagne brunch. After the race the ladies enjoy breakfast with champagne or mimosas, great music, free massages, shopping for lavender products, and cutting your own lavender from the field. This is also the first weekend of the Blanco Lavender Festival in which all other local farms participate.

For the first time, the Austin Gay and Lesbian Pride weekend will include a major running event. It is a 5K (3.1 miles) that will allow participants to enjoy a run in downtown Austin in a fun environment. Starting from the Long Center, the runners will cover two laps of a route that will lead them across Lady Bird Lake (Town Lake) up to the 4th street warehouse district. The race will be timed and results will be published but the goal of the race is to welcome everyone and share a good time. A Slip-N-Slide will be provided at the end, and a water theme will be used throughput the race to keep everyone cool. Since 1989, the numbers in high school sports have continued to grow, with Boys Track and Cross Country and Girls Track & Cross Country always among the top growing sports. 75 years ago today (May 25th) at the 1935 Big Ten Track and Field Championships in Ann Arbor, Michigan Ohio State University’s sophomore Jesse Owens set 4 World Records in less than an hour. Owens tied the World Record in the 100-yard dash and then set the World Record in the long jump, the 220-yard dash and the 220 low hurdles.

The Austin Sports & Social Club has added a level of difficulty and fun to a typical 10K. On May 23rd, come take part in the adventure race of the year - the third annual Austin 10K+. Participants will not only be running a 5k or 10k, but will also be climbing over marine hurdles, ducking under an army crawl, balancing along a plank walk, and ascending over a rope wall in route to the finish line!
