About Me: Dave Mortell has an MBA in Marketing with a focus on international issues. He learned the benefits of corporate teambuilding and ongoing education first-hand as the Director of Small Business Development at Elgin College in Illinois. After several years at Elgin, Dave became the Dean of Professional Development, providing business-focused training to executives. In 2000, Dave left Illinois for Houston, Texas, where he is currently the Learning Administration Manager for Exult, a Global Human Resources outsourcing company. His true passion, however, is adventure seeking. A few short years ago, Dave was introduced to adventure racing in a training course designed by Robyn Benincasa and her team. After that life-changing event, Dave has gone on to compete in several adventure races across the US and Canada as a member of "Team Awareness", and plans to do his first expedition length race in July 2002. Dave is certified in wilderness first aid, rescue scuba diving and whitewater kayaking and served in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
