About Me: I started running when I was 10 behind my dad, it didnot take long to keep up as a 6th grader, altough mydad ran a few 34 minute 10k's. I ran short races untilI reached High School and joined the CC team. In twoyears I was one of the fastest CC runners in NH,(track was not my specialty as you might guess). Iwas a Class L State Champion my senior year in 1986.After High School I attended Plymouth State Collegefor a year (Plymouth was the #8 ranked party school inPlayboy Magazine, so you do the math), then moved toUtah to be a ski bum in 1989. I have been living inUtah since then. I planned on moving back to NH afterone season but quickly decided to stay in Utah simplybecause it is a disneyland of outdoor recreation. Ibecame a running bum shortly after the summer cameupon us in 1990. After about 7 years of skiing 100days a year, I turned my energy over to Ultrarunning. I was always a runner and PIkes Peak was a big eventfor me until I ran Wasatch in 1996 for my first Ultra.Since then I have been running ultras during thesummer months and skiing during the winter. I wasemployed at Snowbird Ski Resort until Feb 4, 2006. Ithen decided I have had enough of waiting on peopleand left the resort. I was a bartender there for 17years. I am now an unemployed Ultrarunner survivingon bread and water.
Goals: Over the past few years I have travelled to Hong KongChina twice, and Chamonix, France to race on theworld stage, with some success and some failure, Ihope to return to Chamonix to redeem myself.

My first race of the year will be the Moab Red Hot 50K on February 16th.  Moab is a tough course, very technical.  I won last
year and hope to at least run faster this year and repeat as Red Hot
Champion.
I will try my hardest to at least win 1, 100 mile race this year, I am only entering 2, the Coyote Two Moon, and Western States.
Both have stiff competition and will be very tough to win.  I would
like to at least go under 17 hours at Western, Coyote is a fun run.
My final adventure for the year will be the “Appalachian Trail
Assault”starting on August 5th from the summit of Mt. Kathadin.  I’ll
be running from Maine to Georgia, 2175 miles of rugged singletrack.
The current record is 47 days, 13 hours, 31 minutes.  I am hoping to
run it anywhere under that time.  It is a stellar record and one to be
respected highly.  It won’t be easy !
My ultimate goal has been to win 100 mile trail races.  It is my
specialty to run long technical trails all day, so why not  do it
forever?  I hope to reach 35, 100 mile wins.  I do have a long way
though, as many of my closest friends are not far behind me…and all
quite a bit younger.  When I am old (80), I would like to look back at
my career and still hold a record.  Only time will tell.  Now go
runnin”!
