About Me:
Craziest Experience
The experience that comes to mind was climbing Cathedral
peak in Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite NP. My climbing partner and I were climbing in October and were pushing our
luck with the weather. We hiked in to
climb Cathedral peak only to have it snow on us. We waited two days for good weather so that
we could climb. On the third day we had
a warm clear day. We chose our route and
started to climb. Unfortunately we
wandered off route and went slower than
intended. On the third pitch we
encountered a chimney that I had to bust
off the skim ice by hand so I could climb or place pro. By the time we summited it was getting dark
and we realized that we couldn't walk off the top because everything was
covered in glaze ice. We were not prepared to spend a night on the
top. We had no warm clothing or
lights. We ended up having to rappel off
shurbrury. Our rope kept getting
tangled but somehow we ended up getting down in one piece.
