Real Name: Wendy Mastripolito
Gender: Female
Birthday: Dec 06, 1965
Age: 47
City: Glenmoore
State: PA
About Me: I was born, raised, and currently reside in Pennsylvania. I am a Masters 40-44 age group athlete. I work full time as an Executive Assistant. I love to run, snowshoe, and mountain bike. I just won the 2008 PA State Championship Women's Snowshoe title.

In 2007, in addition to my training I did 62 races: (40 Road Races of various lengths from 5K to 15K, 4 Half Marathons, 3 Marathons [two of them were fifteen days apart], 5 Triathlons/Duathlons, 4 Bike Races, 1 Ultra Triathlon [DNF], and participated in 5 Track Meets). I also snow shoe run, kayak, orienteer, mountain bike, and will be throwing the Javelin competitively in Spring 2008.

I bike race for the WCCC/Iron Hill Cycling Club..I run track for the Philadelphia Masters Club, I am a member of the Philadelphia Triathlon Club, and the DVOA (DE Valley Orienteering Assoc). I member #744 of Marathon Maniacs. I just relearned how to freestyle swim last year and finally tackled my first 2.4 mile open water swim at the Chesapeake Man Ultra. My family and friends think I have a high energy level, I think its just a high desire and passion to take on new adventures and challenges, and to have fun. The more complicated or impossible the better. I am very dedicated (or insane as some would call it) sometimes doing 3 races a weekend and driving up to 6 hours or more for an event.

Things dont come easy.. I have had my share of dispointment and accidents.. the DNF for my first Ultra Triathlon (Full Ironman Distance) event.. I did not make the swim cut off time.. I came in at 2 hours 20mins and 24 seconds. so missed it by 24 seconds.. I have had two bad spills on the trails and one bike crash but somehow no broken bones.. i think.. :)

I do have great aspirations for the future and look forward to tackling new adventures!

Motivation: I ran a few years of track and cross country in high school then took a break of like 20+ years.. Been running competitively for a year and a half. I wanted to change my life around.. I had relatively stayed in shape but when I brought up the idea of training for a 5K to my family they laughed stating there was no way a 40+ year old ex smoker, drinker, party girl could do it.. That’s all the incentive I needed. The hardest thing was actually running that first mile in training.. I forgot how hard it was!

Goals: My goals are to improve my times across the board, to better myself physically and mentally and to eventually qualify for Ironman Hawaii and Boston, oh and to do a 100 mile ultra. I have a full race schedule for 2008 with a mix of snowshoe races, marathons, half marathons, half Ironmans, a 50K trail race, and MTB & road bike races.

Occupation: Executive Assistant
Workout Routines / Fitness Tips: On average I run about 40 miles a week, Swim 2-3 times a week and bike 3-4 times a week.. I do a mix of intervals, speed or hill work, long and short runs.. I take days off and also incorporate stretching, weights and strength training. When in training for a specific ultra triathlon or marathon, the mileage goes up and sometimes two workouts a day.

I read all the time and have a large collection of running, biking, triathlon, swimming, nutrition books on hand. I recommend that you read all you can and incorporate the information in your training.
