Real Name: Team MOAT
Gender: Male
Birthday: Jan 01, 1906
Age: 104
City: Houston
State: Texas
About Me:

Team MOAT (mother of all teams in Texas) got its name from an army friend that loved acronyms; it came from MOAB (mother of all bombs). We weren't all on-board with the name but when we started winning with the name, it was hard not to keep it around. Members of Team MOAT are actively racing throughout Texas and support the sport and all those that encompass adventure racing. Team members lead groups and classes in running, biking, canoeing, or orienteering and adventure racing.

Motivation:

MY MOTIVATION: I Adventure Race for a variety of reasons: 1. First and foremost is "I love the outdoors" and this is the perfect way to enjoy the woods and waterways of the world, at day and at night. The cool animals and incredible sights that I've seen at races from as far away as Greenland and Tasmania are too numerous to count. 2. I really enjoy the challenge and dynamics involved in helping make my team and teammates the best that they can be. 3. I like to physically challenge myself and successfully completing these races has given me a huge boost in selfconfidence over the years. This applies to a wide variety of the challenges that life throws at us.

Goals:

Good wins in '08, Climbing the podium in Montana in July, making it tough for any team to knock us off at Nationals in Georgia.

Defining Moments:

Early in the career of Team MOAT. We were racing in Florida (Coast to Coast) against some tough competitors and close to the end of the race we found ourselves close to the top team. We knew there was one more paddling leg left but the team was smoking us on the bike and our tanks were running low and we had thoughts of 2nd place being OK when we all came to the decision that we were the team to beat and they needed to worry about us....We got back on our bikes after this revelation and started hammering. Shortly after getting on the water we started pushing the strokes and we picked some good lines in the dark winding river...a few hours later we came out on top. That night we realized we had what it took to push to the top.
